Many of our students are out there in the wide world, making their way in further design studies and we have even reached the point where some are graduating at a Masters level. In January our lecturer caught up with our student at the RCA in London, and we were very pleased to see two more of our graduates succeed him on the course.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to some issues with a passport- our travelling to see friends in Russia was somewhat limited. Despite this- our lecturer Lee Walton managed to gain an award. Our students participated in a short design competition, for the PUSHKA Design Forum in Moscow. Their brief was to design an automated delivery vehicle for the TRAFT brand.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\">3rd year student Iiro Laine placed 2nd overall in the PUSHKA Design Forum design competition, and was awarded a certificate and prize by the Traft company. Iiro&#8217;s innovative but simple concept, proposed re-using existing transportation trailers with modern self-driving tractor units.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-940\" src=\"https:\/\/blogit.lab.fi\/stancefinland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/04\/IMG_5937_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogit.lab.fi\/stancefinland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/04\/IMG_5937_1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/blogit.lab.fi\/stancefinland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/04\/IMG_5937_1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogit.lab.fi\/stancefinland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/04\/IMG_5937_1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/blogit.lab.fi\/stancefinland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/04\/IMG_5937_1-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogit.lab.fi\/stancefinland\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/04\/IMG_5937_1-510x510.jpg 510w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><strong>Highlights of 2017 \u00a0<\/strong>(our annual graduation show STANCE18 will be happening 25th of May in Lahti, watch this space!)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\">Kalle Keituri, our alumni of 2015 graduated from RCA London, then began his professional career as a designer at Rolls-Royce Motor cars in the UK.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\">Henri Hokkanen our alumni of 2016, began his professional career as a Designer at Valtra Inc, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\">Antti Vahtola, our alumni of 2017 began his Masters studies at Umea Institute and this year placed 2nd in the BRP Student Design competition, titled Urban Arctic Mobility.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\">Hilja-Maria Kaitila, and Olli Sepp\u00e4ll\u00e4 both began their Masters at the RCA.<\/li>\n<li class=\"_1mf _1mj\">Mikael Serjala and Mika Karjalainen began Masters studies at SPD in Milan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2017 was an interesting year for us at STANCE.
