Development process by a trainee

A trainee is a legitimate employee for the company who is undergoing training for the position they were initially hired for (Indeed 2022.) During the internship, an experienced mentor has a plan for the internship period and gives support to the inexperienced trainee. Colleagues can be part of the well-prepared internship and help trainee to understand the concept of working in a company. Being part of the development planning is also an efficient way for a trainee to learn about the company and the industry, as well as the positions of the jobs.

How to make the company’s growth to your target?

Step 1: Consider the company goal

At the very first phase of the development progress, it is essential for trainee to understand the scope, goal, or objectives of the company. Since as a trainee, knowledge and experience about the organization, systems, working style, and purpose as well as the desire of the firm for development is limited. The budget and time for development are considered in this stage, for trainee to set milestones for each next stage and complete the plan in time.

Step 2: Discuss with the manager

After considering the business goal, discuss with the mentor what is the next important step. The mentor-mentee connection is based on the mentor’s availability to their mentee for guidance, support, and inquiries (Jennifer 2019). The content that should be discussed to develop a development plan is the current needs of the company and the outcome that the organization would like to have after the plan. The support of the manager and as well as the company for a trainee would also be discussed. For example, how often meetings should occur, what milestones should be set, the amount of information, and the data company can provide.

Step 3: Do the research

After researching, analyzing, and consulting, the trainee can provide a list of potential methods to develop a company. For example, development in technical, design, or business-related matters, such as marketing or finance. The process of choosing a suitable method is effortless for trainees and the firm during the meeting while having the advantages and disadvantages listed on a table or a figure.

Step 4: Application

The application phase begins after the selection. The final plan with solutions for the development plan will be shown to the company and launched to the system-providing company. The cycle will be repeated if there are any further ideas for development.

Final thoughts

According to Nguyen (2022), writing a development plan during the internship is an excellent addition to the trainee’s CV and a valuable way to gain insights and experience of what various industries would be like to work in. There is an opportunity for a student as a trainee to investigate deeply into the company not only by working but through the trainee period.

Moreover, communication with the manager as a mentor is also valuable to enhance the trainee’s soft skills and practical skills. In an increasingly competitive jobs market, this really can set trainees apart from other candidates and help to develop real-world knowledge, experience, and practical skills.
